Dear Justin Timberlake, did I ever thank you for deleting my life's work.....

No? Must be because you're an idiot. Yes folks if you go to your myspace page like I went to mine www.myspace.com/joythompsonmusic you will freaking find {or fail to find} any of your blogs, pics or messages because the new owner of myspace Justin-sheepboy-Timberlake took it upon himself to torpedo them all without so much as a checked flag warning. Awesome. I only hope there's someone over there who has more sense than a 90's boybander in business and that they're rectifying this crap as we speak as my blogs people....gold as you can well see/read {snark} and I really, really, really want that shit back. Wanna join in the complaint? Awesome... go here. Tell those muthachuckers what's what.....and then tell 'em again as I think they might be deaf in one ear. Alrighty back to moving my room around, see you kittens later.

Ohhhhhhh Canada.....

Well that was a productive 7hrs. Which is exactly how long it took to co-write a song and do a rough acoustic recording with vocals and harmonies with the awesome Matt Giblin.  Sang into this beautiful thing ......

Condenser mics can be damn tricky and irritating if you're not a statue as they pick up EVERYTHING! My classmate's mic was picking up voices in the hallway around the corner with the door closed. But if you have a throaty voice like mine it can create a really deep, warm sound that translates well to altos.

The song we cut "Oh Canada" was a melodious, harmonious ode to this great country of ours and all it's cool shit like Poutine and Barenaked Ladies. It's pretty goofy and fun if I do say so myself, and I'll likely upload it on Soundcloud for Canada Day once we clean it up a bit.  In the meantime you can always listen to this.  And when you're listening dream of this {with special focus on the Corona} 'Course there's precious more gorgeous than Canada. Ohhhhhhh Canada. Gotta love my red and white.

P.S  Here's how the nails turned out {my mermaid magic/gem crush showgirl chic/crush on raisin amalgamation} got a $5 flower ring too. Score!

Nails, nails while running scales....

So you may or may not have noticed that I'm a little cuckoo for nail polish. It's a fun cost effective way to brighten up your day and nowadays you can get so many different types of nail polish that do so many things that if you're just doing your fingernails who needs a salon. I have a couple different nail brands I like to use. I'm not much for the high end things as I'm on a rather tight budget so you'll find any, nails or products I randomly rave about can generally be found at a very low price at your local Shopper's Drug Mart {20 X the points day is awesome}. The nail polish featured below is any typical white nail polish and a no-name version of black crackle. It creates a cool retro effect like my friend Sarah Begin referenced in her blog here
Below that I have a really cool hot-pink almost orange-y colour found in my roomate's stash. You can get any of these neon summer colours for very cost effective from Wet'N'Wild or Essence both carried at Shopper's Drug Mart. The mauve is another roommate find, you'll probably see a lot of these muted colours closer to fall. They paint a very elegant hand and this particular shade of mauve goes with nearly everything. The red nail polish is as much a female staple as the little black dress, it's best to find the shade of red that suits you as it isn't necessarily one size fits all in that way but there is guaranteed to be a shade out there perfect for every complexion.

A nail trend I've noticed is a 50% increase in bling it seems to be a thing to make your nails look like jewelry.Everything seems to have a sparkle or a shine to it, if you're a fan of this new trend then Sally Hansen's Gem Crush in Big Money is definitely for you. Myself, I enjoy the flash so below I took Hard Candy's Crush on Raisin from their Crushed Chrome Collection covered it with Sally Hansen's Crackle in Fractured Foil and finished it off with a little Gem Crush in Showgirl Chic on the tips. Sparkly Crackly madness!! It's very similar layering to my newest obsession at the bottom. Ladies, I present to you: Moon Candy in Meteor. There's 10 shades of awesome and they're all pretty groovey. It's basically a base coat on one side and some sparkly nail crack on the other. The base coat of course goes on first {dries fairly quickly} then the sparkly crack is applied. I bought two of these {I got galactic as well} but only because they were on sale as they're pretty pricey for my nail budget at around $10. I wanted a flourish so again I splashed some Showgirl Chic on the tips for even more over the top sparkle {being a musician can do that to you}. Tomorrow I'll be giving Hard Candy another shot with Mermaid Magic It may need a base coat though or a least a few strong coats.

Until then I'm off to the studio to work on some school work. Try taking a load off with a glass {or two}  of red wine, some popcorn {for all you Gladiators out there} and paint yourself some happy. Peace Out Kittens!

Yup it's school time again. What's that you say? You didn't know I was in school? Neither did I, and for Independent Music Production no less. I really did fall into it on a lark just waiting for Creative Advertising to become available. The orientation just happened to fall on a day I had off at work and so I thought to myself...self...why not attend and see what it's all about I mean whaddya have to lose. Well, now I'm here at Seneca studying whatever the hell it is you study to be an independent musician with some very talented students and instructors. It's a weird world my friends, a weird world indeed. Take the red pill kittens because you never.fucking.know.
