Yup. It's a songwriting weekend for me. I'm getting ready for that grant #fingerscrossed. Finished one song and wrote 2 more this weekend thus far and am feeling well happy about it! There's little like the feeling of completing what you reckon is a good song. It's like delivering a tiny little baby {somewhat less painful}. Anyway I'd been trying to finish this song I wrote while hanging with some good friends on my kitchen floor one Earth Hour and finally got to completing it yesterday. The song has special meaning to me. Here are the lyrics, I'll get around to recording it eventually I'm sure.
-Cheap Bottle of Wine-
Was only yesterday, at least it seems that way
We killed a bottle and we laughed for hours
When Jen walked through the door we're both sat on the floor
She brought the wine we would soon devour
Pre-Chorus
Those days are over, those days are gone
But with these memories they linger on
Chorus
I like a cheap bottle of wine
Like to sit on the floor with my girls
Talk about life x2
oh life
Now we've all gone our ways, from Thai to Scottish days
But I still recollect what made us smile
And we're all doing well, survived the road to hell
Though we won't see each other for a while
Pre-Chorus
I still remember, I won't forget
And from that moment got no regrets
Chorus
I like a cheap bottle of wine
Like to sit on the floor with my girls
Talk about life x2
oh life
Bridge
One day when you come home
And we are all full grown
And we are settled in our lives
Chorus
Then we'll have a cheap bottle of wine
and we'll sit on the floor just us girls
And talk about life x2
oh life x2
